As the Sous-Chef at O-Ku, Sang Lee oversees sushi production, directs back-of-house operations and works closely with executive chef, Kazu Murakami. Lee is well versed in the art of sushi, having worked at a sushi restaurant prior to joining the King St. establishment. Lee attributes his success to his organization skills and devotion to using the highest quality ingredients which inspire his dishes.
At a young age, Lee has worked at some of Charleston’s best restaurants. Lee worked at Roost and American Grocery Restaurant in Greenville, S.C. where he learned from some of the best culinary experts in the business. With invaluable lessons in the kitchen under his belt, Lee has the tools to propel his food-service career to even higher levels.
Inspired by his mother at a young age, Lee graduated from college with a major in culinary arts and has dreamed of becoming a chef ever since he was young. Being a native of South Carolina, Lee is able to cultivate relationships with the clientele, customers and suppliers with ease. Lee brings passion, enthusiasm and creativity to O-Ku’s kitchen while ensuring the sushi is made with attention to detail.
